The Swirls/Buns
- 1 Bag Your favorite Bucket of Bread Brand Dough We used Traditional White here
- ½ Cup Lukewarm water
- 1 Can Pumpkin Puree 15 ounces
- 1 Tbsp Baking Kit Mix Set aside for when rolling out dough
- ¼ Cup Melted Butter For brushing
- 1 Cup Brown Sugar
- 2 tsp Cinnamon
- 2 tsp Pumpkin Spice
For the Maple Kiss Frosting
- 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
- 2-3 Tbsp Milk
- 2 Tbsp Softened Butter
- 1 Tbsp Real Maple Syrup or ½ tsp of Maple extract
Prepare the Dough
- Set about a Tbsp of the baking kit mix to the side in a small dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, or the bucket, add the baking kit mix and yeast packet.
- Add the can of pumpkin pie filling.
- Pour in the lukewarm water.
- Mix the dough until smooth and there isn't anything dry left.
- Let the dough rise covered or in the bucket with the lid ajar (preferably in a warm place) for 2-3 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Roll Out the Dough
- After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface using the tablespoon of baking mix you set aside earlier.
- Brush the rolled-out dough with melted butter.
- Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar, cinnamon, and pumpkin spice mixture over the surface.
Form the Buns
- Starting from one end, tightly roll the dough into a log.
- Slice the log into individual buns.
- Place them in a butter brushed baking dish.
Make the Maple Frosting
- While the buns are baking, prepare the frosting by mixing powdered sugar, softened butter, and milk until smooth. Add the maple extract or syrup and stir until well combined.
Serve
- Once the buns are baked, let them cool slightly before drizzling the maple frosting over the top.
- Dust with a light sprinkle of pumpkin spice.
- Enjoy - Happy Fall, Y'all!
To enhance the recipe, here are a few suggestions:

-
Add Nuts: Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts over the cinnamon and brown sugar filling before rolling the dough. The nuts will add a delightful crunch and complement the warmth of the cinnamon and pumpkin.
-
Pumpkin Spice: Incorporate a teaspoon of pumpkin spice into the dough or filling. This blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and cloves will elevate the autumn flavors even more.
-
Cream Cheese in Frosting: For a richer frosting, mix in a bit of cream cheese with the butter, powdered sugar, and maple. This will create a tangy contrast to the sweet buns.
-
Candied Ginger: Add finely chopped candied ginger to the filling for a hint of spice and a chewy texture. It pairs wonderfully with the cinnamon and pumpkin.
-
Caramel Drizzle: In addition to or instead of the maple frosting, drizzle a bit of caramel sauce over the buns for an extra layer of indulgence.
