Bucket of Bread is on the ‘Rise’ with the Help of University of Wisconsin – La Crosse Students as they Create Recipes for Success Together

LA CROSSE, WISCONSIN – The University of Wisconsin in La Crosse is making strides in providing students with hands-on experience in entrepreneurship. Three students, Aiden (sophomore), Jake (junior), and Ryan (senior), have teamed up with the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to work as interns for small businesses in the La Crosse area, operating out of the Coulee Region Business Center.

Recently, the trio met with Chris Wysong, the owner and founder behind La Crosse’s own Bucket of Bread, where they conducted some pretzel-making experiments in The Bucket of Bread Test Kitchen. These students spent an afternoon recording some short videos of their culinary adventures.
Pretzel Bite Making SBDC Student Success
UWL SBDC Director Anne Hlavacka combines student success and classroom expertise to support La Crosse's entrepreneurs.

The videos of the crew having some fun in the kitchen were used as some promotional fun on the Bucket of Bread social media channels. Their eagerness, motivation, and participation helped with continuing the company’s brand awareness and efforts towards increasing online sales.

The University of Wisconsin in La Crosse is taking a proactive approach to equip its students with the necessary skills to succeed in the business world. This collaboration with the SBDC is just one example of how they are achieving this goal.

Anne Hlavacka, the Director of the SBDC, also joined the meeting to discuss more about the SBDC and UWL’s entrepreneurial-focused programs. During her presentation, she emphasized how students like Jake, Aiden, and Ryan can leverage the experiences gained in the classroom to provide real-world solutions and opportunities for local business owners in the community. She highlighted the importance of such collaborations in building a thriving business ecosystem.
