About the Veteran-Owned Baking Kit Company
Bucket of Bread is a veteran-owned baking kit company located in La Crosse, Wisconsin. We create clean, easy-to-use baking kits that inspire creativity in the kitchen. Each kit is handcrafted in small batches and packaged in 100% recyclable buckets or a convenient box kit.
More importantly, every bucket purchased helps fight food insecurity. We donate at least 10% of profits to charities that feed people across the U.S. Some customers also choose to send buckets directly to food banks. This work matters deeply to us.

Baking with Bucket of Bread
Make easy homemade bread, cinnamon buns, pizzas, breadsticks, garlic knots, pretzels, bagels, naan, and the list keeps going. Bake whatever you imagine!
Just add water to the bucket or using a stand mixer, make sure nothing dry is left, and wait 2-3 hours for a bucket of dough that’s ready to use without any kneading! Refrigerate what you don’t use right away.
Once made, the dough lasts up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. Imagine having fresh baked bread and more in just minutes without all the hassle. Use a Bucket of Bread brand baking kit as your meal prep for baking!

It really is that simple!
What is Bucket of Bread, let’s hear from the founder, Chris Wysong, as he explains in this short video.
But How Did It All Begin?
A Veteran’s Journey from Service to Startup
Chris Wysong, the founder of Bucket of Bread, served for over 20 years in the U.S. Army. He grew up near Des Moines, Iowa, and enlisted right out of high school.
After deploying for Operation Desert Storm, Chris lived in Germany. There, he fell in love with fresh bakery culture. He didn’t know it at the time, but this passion would shape his future.
Over the years, Chris served in Korea, Panama, Guatemala, and Iraq. He worked in logistics and planning. After earning a business degree and retiring as a senior captain, he settled in Wisconsin. That’s where the real baking began.

From Baking for Fundraisers to Building a Veteran-Owned Baking Kit Company as a Brand
Chris always loved baking at home. He made breads and treats to support school events and local charities. People started calling him “The Bread Guy.”
He often experimented in the kitchen. He looked for ways to make baking easier without sacrificing taste or quality. One night, he dreamed about putting his best recipes into a bucket. That dream sparked the idea.
With support from the Small Business Development Center at UW–La Crosse, he built a plan. He licensed the kitchen, bought supplies, and passed inspections. Bucket of Bread became a real business.

Purpose in Every Bucket (or Box)
