  • Add lots of sesame seeds.

  • Bake for a little longer than the original bucket instructions indicate. You want to make sure the toasty color is achieved but watch the bottom from burning. It is okay to check the internal temp at the 20 min. mark. You’re shooting for around 190-200 degrees Fahrenheit. This bun was baking for around 32 minutes.
  • Let your bun cool!
  • Fry up some bacon on the stove top. If you want to adjust the order and amount of time it takes for all this in this recipe so you can also bake your bacon, that's okay too. This recipe is only a guide with some pictures to get your own creativity launched.

  • Get out your ground chuck and form your burgers. The one in the picture here is 3/4 of a pound. Yeah, make them as big as you want!

  • Whether you're using your stove top or a grill, mix in a good sprinkle of Burn Pit rub into the meat.
  • Form the mixed meat up into a patty and sprinkle on some more rub.
  • Cook your burger the way you like it! Still the best recommendation is make sure it isn't a raw burger.
  • Once your burger is done, decide about using cheese or not. This version is going with an aged cheddar.
  • Add some toppings like the veggies! Drench in your favorite condiments. This version is using the Pogey Bait Sweet Honey Sauce.

Notes

Pro-Tip:

When making your burger meat... Leave a divot, indentation, or dimple in the center of your hamburger patty. The basic theory is as the ground chuck cooks, the proteins contract so the whole patty shrinks and puffs up in the middle. Shaping the middle counteracts this effect so you end up with a nice, even patty.
